Why Floridians keep their doors locked, LOL</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y182/SpyderLady60/Miscellaneous/floridianslockdoors.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y182/SpyderLady60/Miscellaneous/floridianslockdoors.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This is an experiment to see if I can help my friend Mona who is having trouble uploading pictures to her blog. I suspect that she's already gotten her limit with Picasa, which I think is the default when you upload pictures from your computer. They automatically go to a Picasa account, which can finally require you to pay for more space...at least I think that's what happened.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So...I uploaded a picture to Photobucket, which is free, then used the "url" option to upload pictures...you go to the picture in your Photobucket account...click on it...and on the right hand side will be choices for codes to paste in the "url window"...I clicked on the "Direct Link" and it automatically copies that address. Then you come back to blogger and paste that url. Not sure how we do multiple images all at once though.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This picture is showing up on my blog...now to publish it and see if it disappears or if it stays. Maybe this will work for Mona.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Love to you all...I am working on my Halloween Tablescape...just not satisfied with what I'm creating so far...</div>

I was going through some pictures on my computer, and ran across my Halloween Tablescape from last year. I love how it turned out. My daughter Kristin and Grand Daughter Kaitlyn came over and helped me put it together. Kris tied the beautiful ribbon on the witch's hat. I had a lighted garland I found at Home Goods, so we wrapped that around a white pumpkin, adorned with that hat.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aUuRk8Z3OXE/UiN6B9c5TYI/AAAAAAAAxTY/7k3wFEHLXnw/s1600/Halloween_2012_centerpiece.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-aUuRk8Z3OXE/UiN6B9c5TYI/AAAAAAAAxTY/7k3wFEHLXnw/s640/Halloween_2012_centerpiece.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I thought it made the perfect centerpiece!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UdUDUZgyg7Y/UiN6BqVUybI/AAAAAAAAxTM/9zO7ollHec0/s1600/Halloween_2012_closeup.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-UdUDUZgyg7Y/UiN6BqVUybI/AAAAAAAAxTM/9zO7ollHec0/s640/Halloween_2012_closeup.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had some gold chargers. I made the decision to paint them black. Loved them for the Halloween table, but regretted that decision all year whenever I wanted gold chargers. I finally found some new gold chargers at an estate sale last week. The wheat design dishes came from Home Goods. The black salad plate from an estate sale. The pumpkin tureens came from both Marshall's and Home Goods. Napkins and napkin rings from the same estate sale.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Outside decor. Gathered over the years...including the husband sitting in the chair waiting for Trick or Treaters, LOL.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bbY88SwMwOI/UiN6GRGVUUI/AAAAAAAAxTk/kOK5G_2IQw4/s1600/Halloween_2012_guest.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-bbY88SwMwOI/UiN6GRGVUUI/AAAAAAAAxTk/kOK5G_2IQw4/s640/Halloween_2012_guest.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of the Halloween Dinner guests. He's been waiting for me to cook.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uwix-bNaRg8/UiN6KDzROqI/AAAAAAAAxT0/QHXmZ87_4w8/s1600/Halloween_2012_hutch.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-uwix-bNaRg8/UiN6KDzROqI/AAAAAAAAxT0/QHXmZ87_4w8/s640/Halloween_2012_hutch.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Kris and Katie helped me arrange my hutch. Normally, it would have all white or white and cobalt blue...will be difficult to try to arrange it differently this year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6UUHDELiI8Y/UiN6HOptBiI/AAAAAAAAxTs/Ey95JGL6_7k/s1600/Halloween_2012_outside.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-6UUHDELiI8Y/UiN6HOptBiI/AAAAAAAAxTs/Ey95JGL6_7k/s640/Halloween_2012_outside.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The "Blue Hour" as my favorite blogger Susan, from "<a href="http://betweennapsontheporch.net/" target="_blank">Between Naps On The Porch</a>" calls it. It is that very short time before darkness, when the sky photographs as blue. I didn't intentionally try to capture it, so it was a surprise to see it. The "window spooks" are made from plastic black tablecloths, cut to the size of the window, and then the faces of the spooks cut out. You tape white plastic compactor bags behind the cut out faces. Tape to the window, and put a light behind them. Have used them for years and years now. I'm hoping to put something in the double center window this year.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mvfBii2s9JA/UiN6NJFC7pI/AAAAAAAAxT8/XsrIO5ef8tk/s1600/Halloween_2012_placesetting.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-mvfBii2s9JA/UiN6NJFC7pI/AAAAAAAAxT8/XsrIO5ef8tk/s640/Halloween_2012_placesetting.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
A view of a table setting. Can you see the bat placemats? I bought a runner at Home Goods and cut it down into four placemats. I used the iron on tape to close the edges, so I didn't have to sew.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O9Usw-vMtcY/UiN6NebaICI/AAAAAAAAxUA/S9GmyF6sgV8/s1600/Halloween_2012_pumpkin_candydish.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-O9Usw-vMtcY/UiN6NebaICI/AAAAAAAAxUA/S9GmyF6sgV8/s640/Halloween_2012_pumpkin_candydish.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of the pumpkin tureens that I purchased separately, turned out to be a little larger in size. So I put candy corn in it. The pretty clear glass votives were estate sale find. I put the centerpiece on a cake stand to elevate it a bit.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-knig-dUxgbs/UiN6N_JI2UI/AAAAAAAAxUM/16Bf6Kx6Upw/s1600/Halloween_2012_rim_shot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-knig-dUxgbs/UiN6N_JI2UI/AAAAAAAAxUM/16Bf6Kx6Upw/s640/Halloween_2012_rim_shot.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I learned that bloggers who post tablescapes always have the obligatory "rim shot"...so here's mine! The flatware was found at an estate sale. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dSZpG2b-m4s/UiN6RzWlosI/AAAAAAAAxUU/R3H4Mj8NroM/s1600/Halloween_2012_scarecrow_guest.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-dSZpG2b-m4s/UiN6RzWlosI/AAAAAAAAxUU/R3H4Mj8NroM/s640/Halloween_2012_scarecrow_guest.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another Halloween Dinner guest...he won't eat much...eats like a scarecrow! LOL The Pumpkin Tea Pot was also an estate sale find.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-F0_zurwpn7Y/UiN6T0iw6yI/AAAAAAAAxUc/9_KMV6uYL1A/s1600/Halloween_2012_spooky_window2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-F0_zurwpn7Y/UiN6T0iw6yI/AAAAAAAAxUc/9_KMV6uYL1A/s640/Halloween_2012_spooky_window2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another view of the "Window Spook".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The crystal is what you might call my wedding crystal. The very first that I ever had. It is Val St. Lambert and the pattern is Balmoral. My husband earned points for selling Thermo-king units when he worked for Fruehauf Corporation. He used his points to buy me this crystal. I have always cherished it. I met him on my sixteenth birthday and we've been married since 1957. My! How many years is that? We've lost track and I'm afraid to count them as I hope for so many more with him.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The tablecloth came from Home Goods. The little beaded pumpkin decorations came from Ross. Halloween cups on the hutch from TJ Maxx years ago. I love that Pumpkin pitcher on the hutch. An estate sale find again.</div>
<br />
I hate the glare from the light over the table. This year, I hope we have a different one hanging there. We bought two at an estate sale a week ago. I hope I like whichever one we choose to hang...if not...I'll be saying the same thing about the new one, LOL I hate the glare!<br />
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s7zMt5cF9TI/UiORuJ0_-kI/AAAAAAAAxVA/mUIfUuajUPU/s1600/Halloween_2012_Window_Spook1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-s7zMt5cF9TI/UiORuJ0_-kI/AAAAAAAAxVA/mUIfUuajUPU/s640/Halloween_2012_Window_Spook1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
One of the "Window Spooks" with a different look! This year, I'm thinking of a flying witch for the two center windows...or maybe some bats and a rat or two?</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, this was Halloween 2012...Got to start thinking about what I can do differently for Halloween 2013!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I do so love tablescapes and I can't wait to see what the bloggers who also make them do for this Halloween. They are all so creative!</div>

<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I am making a confession here...I LOVE Rabbits. I have a pretty big collection of them. This started out to be my Easter tablescape, but two tiny little kittens changed all that. My neighbor appeared on my doorstep in mid April, first with one baby kitten with its eyes still closed...and then rang the doorbell again with the second one. I knew they wouldn't make it unless I fed them every two hours. I put all my efforts into saving these little tykes. They are now juvenile delinquents who use our heads for spring boards while playing, and doing well, so I thought..."Gee...I never did post my Easter table".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So...instead of calling it Easter tablescape...how about just calling this "Showing you some of my Rabbit Stuff."</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2NSlsDXADps/UeEVf7AjDbI/AAAAAAAAxOk/FooEsNuju-E/s1600/Easter_2013_2565a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-2NSlsDXADps/UeEVf7AjDbI/AAAAAAAAxOk/FooEsNuju-E/s640/Easter_2013_2565a.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I love this tablecloth and napkins that matched, found at an estate sale, of course. I put a white vinyl covering with a flannel back under it...that protects my table, since I never was able to afford table pads. I chose the pink placemats because I thought they were so pretty. Love the satin damask look. All 4 were found at an estate sale for $3.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pxpWI-LFyTY/UeEVf4ljUEI/AAAAAAAAxOo/DOeklkM8u4g/s1600/Easter_2013_bunny_cupcakeholder_2609.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-pxpWI-LFyTY/UeEVf4ljUEI/AAAAAAAAxOo/DOeklkM8u4g/s640/Easter_2013_bunny_cupcakeholder_2609.jpg" width="526" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I have to admit...I splurged on these little rabbit cupcake stands. I bought four of them on sale from the Pottery Barn, months and months ago. I coveted them ever since I saw them on Susan's table at "<a href="http://betweennapsontheporch.net/easter-spring-table-setting-with-tulip-centerpiece-welcome-to-the-188th-tablescape-thursday/" target="_blank">Between Naps On The Porch</a>".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ti71lsaZE5Y/UeEVhVLVHrI/AAAAAAAAxO0/P8Go3kcznt8/s1600/Easter_2013_cabbage_plate_2606.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-ti71lsaZE5Y/UeEVhVLVHrI/AAAAAAAAxO0/P8Go3kcznt8/s640/Easter_2013_cabbage_plate_2606.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm constantly looking for cabbage plates now. Found 4 of these at an estate sale. I really want a set of the Bordallo Pinheiro cabbage dinner plates, and I have passed up some at estate sales that were just too expensive. I'm sure I'll run across some at a reasonable price one of these days. I just have to be on the lookout. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qLVCv610CkQ/UeEVkslZ_ZI/AAAAAAAAxO8/F0FzZ8DcBI8/s1600/Easter_2013_centerpiece_2585.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="484" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-qLVCv610CkQ/UeEVkslZ_ZI/AAAAAAAAxO8/F0FzZ8DcBI8/s640/Easter_2013_centerpiece_2585.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I've collected Rabbits over the years...at least 40 years. This large rabbit was purchased at a store that was called the Christmas store (not the Christmas Tree store that is there now) in Altamonte Springs, but it was the kind of store you shopped all year. The family that owned it closed it after many years and I was devastated. They nicknamed me "The Lady With The Rabbit Habit"...can't imagine why! The eggs I found at Marshalls.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aLEY_CEBTPA/UeEVdd8aRQI/AAAAAAAAxOc/21Mf0H4boRM/s1600/Easter_2013_FF_candleholder_2608.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-aLEY_CEBTPA/UeEVdd8aRQI/AAAAAAAAxOc/21Mf0H4boRM/s640/Easter_2013_FF_candleholder_2608.jpg" width="538" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The rabbit candleholders were found at the same sale that the napkin rings and rabbit pitcher were found. I think the former owner also had a "Rabbit Habit".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These Hydrangea plates are one of my favorite finds at an estate sale. It was at the Countess sale in Winter Springs that I found these...along with 4 white ones, and 4 blue ones. Also Teapot (white) and mugs, sugar and creamers in white and pink. I just used the pink for now, saving the others for another time.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
These Indiana Madrid pattern glasses called to me the minute I stepped into an estate sale in a subdivision near me called "Sleepy Hollow". There were 8 of them and I was so happy to get them at half price. Aren't they beautiful?</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I do LOVE this silverplate flatware I found at another estate sale...(getting to be a broken record isn't it, but we have so many around here and things sell for so little it's amazing). This pattern is William Rogers Chalice (also known as Harmony and Jasmine). It's in perfect condition and polishes up so nice.</div>

I should have posted this at least a week ago. I had the pictures taken, but I'm still worrying about the posts showing up where I want them to be. I created tabs, to kind of sort my posts in categories...but I can't find instructions anywhere as to how to make the post show up, for example, in Tablescapes, instead of just my home page. I added a "label" of "Tablescapes".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, onward we go...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had a difficult time putting this table together. The beautiful Cobalt Blue Reticulated Chargers that I wanted to use eluded me...at least one of them did, for days and days. I thought I had started early enough to choose what I wanted to use on this table. Why is everything so difficult? Three of the chargers were in a curio cabinet in the living room...in plain sight. Of course, the cabinet is filled with crystal, and all had to be removed to get the chargers out. I know all you tablescapers dread that "domino effect". The one where you move something from a shelf you want to use for your table, and it shows the dust all around where the item sat. This means windexing the glass shelf, and washing all the items in the cabinet. Seems like I did that pretty recently...how could it need done again?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Okay...where is the fourth charger? I searched and searched. Every possible place I might have stashed something that big. Finally, I told Mr. Piggy that the only place I hadn't checked was the top shelf in the hall closet. Surely I wouldn't have put it there? I can't see up on that top shelf...too high...need a stool. It seemed like dragging a step stool in there was just too much effort. I was exhausted from looking. So...thankfully, Mr. Piggy brought the stool in and got up on it to look on that top shelf...and there it was!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I don't know if you know it or not, but if you double click on any of the photos, they will appear in a type of slide show called a "light box"...you can then use your arrow keys to arrow through them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I7oFKgRbD8I/Ud0m759haQI/AAAAAAAAxNY/gyCvThmf13c/s1600/centerpiece_july4_2013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-I7oFKgRbD8I/Ud0m759haQI/AAAAAAAAxNY/gyCvThmf13c/s640/centerpiece_july4_2013.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
What to use for the centerpiece? My first choice would be fresh flowers, but not in the budget. I love red Geraniums. My daughter found this Geranium plant, and a smaller one, at an estate sale. $6...I tried to pay her for them but she wouldn't hear of it. I put the larger pot on a red plate. Next, I needed to look for any patriotic decor I might have. The flags had been in a plastic bag in the garage for years and years. Put them in the pot, and Yay...it looks good.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xXL3nfgCPd4/Ud0m99thIHI/AAAAAAAAxNg/RKOpLBa7mhI/s1600/july4_2013_goblets.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-xXL3nfgCPd4/Ud0m99thIHI/AAAAAAAAxNg/RKOpLBa7mhI/s640/july4_2013_goblets.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The red glass candlesticks were bought one year to make Christmas arrangements. My daughter Kris and I attached white Mums, greenery, and Cardinals, with red velvet ribbons to them. These two were left over, so I found them in my "red" cupboard, with the red dishes you see. Those Ruby Red dishes were a Mother's day present from my daughter Kris, years and years ago. She found them in an antique shop in Mt. Dora, while we were out antiquing together. I love them! The clear glass stems with the floral design that looks like a Daisy are favorites of mine. I have searched and searched for the pattern name but so far I can't identify it. They were also an estate sale find. If you recognize the pattern, please let me know!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u9qFDuAd6LI/Ud0nAEji0NI/AAAAAAAAxNs/G1eA8EXzxzE/s1600/july4_2013_tablescape.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="458" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-u9qFDuAd6LI/Ud0nAEji0NI/AAAAAAAAxNs/G1eA8EXzxzE/s640/july4_2013_tablescape.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I had several choices to use for stemware or goblets. Ruby Red goblets, and some very dark midnight blue goblets. I finally settled on these beautiful blue goblets that were purchased at an estate sale. Creating Divine Order is one of my favorite estate sale companies. This sale, I call the Countess sale, was conducted by CDO, and the house was a mansion in Winter Springs. The owner also had a home in Italy, was an heiress (I can't recall the company her fortune came from). She was also a Countess and a sculptress, and the whole house was filled with lovely things. If only I were rich! The Cobalt Blue chargers were also purchased at that sale. I don't know much about them, except that they had a label that said "Italy" on the bottom.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h3w_-QcWUy4/Ud0m2i26RbI/AAAAAAAAxM8/yLl8trIR2nk/s1600/July4_2013_tablesetting2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-h3w_-QcWUy4/Ud0m2i26RbI/AAAAAAAAxM8/yLl8trIR2nk/s640/July4_2013_tablesetting2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The eating area in my kitchen is very small. The round table has a leaf that makes it into an oval, but then I have no room at all to move around, so the leaf stays in a bedroom closet. Mr. Piggy thinks the table looks cluttered...oh well.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-114iKoJxhdM/Ud0m4AiGq2I/AAAAAAAAxNI/AZf4Auql6ms/s1600/July4_2013_tablesetting3.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-114iKoJxhdM/Ud0m4AiGq2I/AAAAAAAAxNI/AZf4Auql6ms/s640/July4_2013_tablesetting3.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The red placemats were purchased at a thrift store in Sanford.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PqLm3AtbCzM/Ud0m2iHWu8I/AAAAAAAAxM4/YWn5tm3VB8w/s1600/July4_2013_tablesetting5.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-PqLm3AtbCzM/Ud0m2iHWu8I/AAAAAAAAxM4/YWn5tm3VB8w/s640/July4_2013_tablesetting5.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The napkins were sent to me by my dear friend Gaye. We've been friends since High School. I folded them so that just the stars show. I like the blue and white look on the red. The large white round tablecloth was also an estate sale find. Only $3!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZsO0u3ZhW4U/Ud0m_9XbSYI/AAAAAAAAxNo/ZwQRxzkQ73c/s1600/july4_2013_tablesetting.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="432" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-ZsO0u3ZhW4U/Ud0m_9XbSYI/AAAAAAAAxNo/ZwQRxzkQ73c/s640/july4_2013_tablesetting.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The little star candles I've had for years...tucked in a drawer. This seemed like the perfect time to just use them. I didn't have anything to sit them on so that they wouldn't ruin the tablecloth when lit. While looking for the toe nail clippers to clip the dogs' nails, I found my Americana tile coasters, with the flags on them. Perfect!</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NnG4utiFX7Q/Ud0nAjRmYeI/AAAAAAAAxN4/zTUIj_lrnew/s1600/rim_shot1.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-NnG4utiFX7Q/Ud0nAjRmYeI/AAAAAAAAxN4/zTUIj_lrnew/s640/rim_shot1.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The obligatory "rim shot". My "stack" started with the Cobalt Blue chargers and next are some white plates I found at Home Goods. The pretty Cobalt Blue salad plates were purchased on eBay. The next white saucer that the Ruby Red fruit dish sits on, came from an estate sale. It's made by Gibson...I don't know the pattern name, but they were only $15 for the set. Aren't the vintage blue plates pretty? I love the swirl design. They are described on eBay as vintage Cobalt Blue Duralex Bormioli Rocco made in France. </div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-flb2IGQqEIc/Ud0nCewXnpI/AAAAAAAAxOA/rudpKuv1DPI/s1600/rim_shot2.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-flb2IGQqEIc/Ud0nCewXnpI/AAAAAAAAxOA/rudpKuv1DPI/s640/rim_shot2.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The flatware was another estate sale purchase. It is Magic Moment Nobility by Oneida. It's well worn, and is developing a patina. I paid very little for the whole set. I love the flower design.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I would link with a party, but I'm not sure how yet...so I guess eventually I'll learn, LOL</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

I hope everyone had a wonderful 4th of July. </div>

Years and years ago, we purchased an Ethan Allen Georgian Court Cherry Queen Anne style tufted bench. It was so beautiful. I wish I had a picture of it when it was new...it was upholstered with peach colored velour. I loved it.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
Over the years, it got to looking pretty shabby. Many dogs used it as a stepping board to the bed...the dogs are long gone...the bench was covered several times...but the legs always survived with no "dog damage"....until....until....Suzy! Suzy is a Black Lab that we rescued at the age of 8 months. She had lived those 8 months at the end of a chain. So, we have forgiven her for every transgression...(and there have been many). This poor bench is just one of many things Suzy has destroyed in the 3 years we have had her. Here is a close up of some of the damage on my beloved bench. It looks like a family of beavers worked on it, LOL. I'm just going to sand it down and paint it and then recover the cushion one more time.</div>

You can see the layers of material...and the original Peach upholstery peaking through there.</div>

Another view of the chewing. She chewed the carved detail off this leg.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Another view of the worst damage.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I should have taken more "before" pics, because all the legs had deep puncture marks. This was the worst leg though, and although I would have loved to try to stain it and refinish the wood back to its original glory, alas, the damage was just too severe.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So, since the bench has such sentimental value to me....I decided to try to sand it as best I could and then paint it, instead of throwing it out. I toyed with using the Annie Sloan Chalk paint that is all the rage in Blogland, but since I had some Benjamin Moore black gloss paint on hand, I decided to use that.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
As for the upholstering...with so much damage, I didn't feel I was good enough to tackle button tufting, so just using my staple gun to cover the bench top was my decision for the top.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here are views of the finished bench. </div>

I think it has been saved for a few more years of use. Two coats of black Benjamin Moore gloss paint and then 3 coats of Quick clear. Maybe next time around, I'll change the upholstery, but I had this left over from the last time it was upholstered, and I do love it.</div>

<span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: inherit;">I really never knew anything about Fu Dogs (<b style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.600000381469727px;">Chinese guardian lions</b><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.600000381469727px;">, known as </span><b style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.600000381469727px;"><i>Shishi</i></b><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.600000381469727px;">; literally "stone lion") or </span><b style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.600000381469727px;">Imperial guardian lion</b><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.600000381469727px;">, and often called "Foo Dogs" in the West.</span><span style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.600000381469727px;"> They have traditionally stood in front of </span><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/China" style="background-color: white; background-image: none; color: #0b0080; line-height: 21.600000381469727px; text-decoration: none;" title="China">C</a>hina <span style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.600000381469727px;">Imperial palaces, Imperial tombs, government offices, temples, the homes of government officials and the wealthy, from the </span><a href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Han_Dynasty" style="background-color: white; background-image: none; color: #0b0080; line-height: 21.600000381469727px; text-decoration: none;" title="Han Dynasty">H</a>an Dynasty<span style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.600000381469727px;"> (206 BC-AD 220). <span style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.600000381469727px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 21.600000381469727px;">The story behind our Fu Dogs - </span></span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 21.600000381469727px;"><br /></span></span></span>
<span style="background-color: white;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 21.600000381469727px;">Mr. Piggy and I were at an estate sale close by in our neighborhood, when we came upon two sets of these fearsome looking creatures. They were sooo fierce looking, and so beautiful. Both Mr. Piggy and I were </span></span><span style="line-height: 21.59375px;">irresistibly drawn to t</span><span style="font-family: inherit;"><span style="line-height: 21.600000381469727px;">hem separately, as we walked around the house. Finally, we both ended up side by side admiring them. Neither of us had ever seen anything like them! We didn't consider buying them as they were just not something that goes with our decor. We like traditional/colonial things....but since our whole house is decorated with estate sale/thrift items, you never know what you'll find. The price was more than we could spend anyway, living on a fixed income. How could something like these work in our house?</span></span></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Cv1BTf5iLyc/UWnZi-doACI/AAAAAAAAxGs/xuLrvUxlsik/s1600/IMG_1962.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Cv1BTf5iLyc/UWnZi-doACI/AAAAAAAAxGs/xuLrvUxlsik/s640/IMG_1962.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
They are created in pairs. The Male has a ball (indicating the world) under his paw.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IRWM5Pfxb7I/UWnTTDkyy7I/AAAAAAAAxFY/nC0MUyuxMYM/s1600/IMG_1958a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-IRWM5Pfxb7I/UWnTTDkyy7I/AAAAAAAAxFY/nC0MUyuxMYM/s640/IMG_1958a.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The Female usually has a playful cub under her paw.</div>
<br />
<span style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.600000381469727px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;">We went home and the next morning...Mr. Piggy said he "Had a dream"...about the Fu Dogs. He pictured the large ones on the shelves next to our fireplace in his dream. So I picked up my lap top, and as we drank our morning coffee, I read about all the benefits Fu Dogs can bring to you. Just keeping evil out of our house seemed like enough, LOL. We got dressed and went back to the sale, and even though there had been a lot of interest in them....the Fu Dogs were still there. It was the second day of the sale and everything was half price. Actually, there were 3 sets, and I wish now we had gotten the third set too. They were green jade. After a little bargaining with the estate sale owners, two sets of Fu Dogs were being carefully wrapped and taken to our van. This was our second experience with CDO (Creating Divine Order) Estate Sales, and again, they took such good care of us.</span></span><br />
<span style="background-color: white; line-height: 21.600000381469727px;"><span style="font-family: inherit;"><br /></span></span>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8FLT8gv-vbI/UWnTTxgLa0I/AAAAAAAAxFg/urH6yyLoiAA/s1600/IMG_1980a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="502" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-8FLT8gv-vbI/UWnTTxgLa0I/AAAAAAAAxFg/urH6yyLoiAA/s640/IMG_1980a.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Here's the second set...much smaller than the large blue ones, although it's hard to tell in pictures. The proper placement is to have the female on the left and the male on the right as you are facing them. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O1RzPu-xoSc/UWnTYaVUwCI/AAAAAAAAxFw/mAxxDyffLds/s1600/IMG_1983a.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-O1RzPu-xoSc/UWnTYaVUwCI/AAAAAAAAxFw/mAxxDyffLds/s640/IMG_1983a.jpg" width="590" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The male of this pair.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--vHsv2gqoWU/UWnTXa5ckNI/AAAAAAAAxFo/_1tC6wbzLRQ/s1600/IMG_1982.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="640" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/--vHsv2gqoWU/UWnTXa5ckNI/AAAAAAAAxFo/_1tC6wbzLRQ/s640/IMG_1982.jpg" width="588" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This Female seems to symbolize prosperity, with a pot of gold.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
So....now we look for Fu Dogs at every estate sale we attend. Not quite an obsession yet, but we are definitely interested in them. There are so many different ones...bronze, porcelain, jade, and all price ranges.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
At a recent sale, we found just a single Fu Dog. I think this one is a male, as he has the ball under his foot and we couldn't resist that this one seems whimsical...covered with flowers and reclining. I love the fact that he is a reclining Fu Dog, and love his coloring.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EpK9c5nahEY/UWnZCfZ3zgI/AAAAAAAAxGA/E1ZZmfi22BM/s1600/IMG_2443.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-EpK9c5nahEY/UWnZCfZ3zgI/AAAAAAAAxGA/E1ZZmfi22BM/s640/IMG_2443.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
We went back on the second day of the sale to purchase him, and were so happy that he was still there....at half price. I guess not everyone knows about their "Mystical Powers".</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I wonder what happened to his mate?</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I put him on one of my latest finds. An antique Ethan Allen Queen Anne Low Boy that sits in front of the dining room window...(for now).</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CJhCH4RqCDc/UWniFJVubKI/AAAAAAAAxG8/5KyAiR72GFQ/s1600/EthanAllenAntiqueLowBoy_estate-sale-CDO.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-CJhCH4RqCDc/UWniFJVubKI/AAAAAAAAxG8/5KyAiR72GFQ/s640/EthanAllenAntiqueLowBoy_estate-sale-CDO.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This Ethan Allen Low Boy was found at a different CDO estate sale, and is very old. The top needs refinishing, so if I was ever going to try out Annie Sloan decorative chalk paint, (all the rage in blogging land), and paint a piece of furniture, it might be this piece. It was half price day, so it was a bargain. I wanted it for a night stand in the guest room, but Mr. Piggy thought it would look nice in front of the dining room window. Since he does the moving, this was where it ended up. I would only paint it if we later decide it belongs in the guest room, where I'm contemplating painting a Hooker Four Poster bed.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The antique Imperial Bonn Germany covered Cheese/Butter dish in the background, belonged to Mr. Piggy's great grandmother.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
With his pretty flowers, he doesn't seem very fierce...but we won't underestimate his powers.</div>

Hello Friends!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
Well, my blogging journey continues. I am so new to this and want to share but I'm afraid this old brain isn't able to assimilate as well as it used to. This post should go under the tablescape tab, but somehow I can't figure out how to get it there, LOL.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
This table setting is done with a LOT of estate sale finds, but also with my Lenox Mansfield china. The centerpiece for this table is a Humming Bird Cake. I have seen the recipe all over blogging land and wanted to try one. It was really very good!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The cake server and matching flatware is from an estate sale. It is "Ballad" by Community. I loved the roses on it!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm so new to tablescaping, and forgot to get a candle light shot. In this picture, I tried adding some crystal eggs from my collection. The gold candle holders are from an estate sale, as are the little gold votive candles.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The gold rimmed vintage glass bowls are part of a set that belonged to my Mother in Law Lily. She had so many pretty things. The gold chargers were found at Tuesday Morning. Cheap! I think they were only $1.99 on clearance. I've had the Army Navy tablecloth for years and years. When we lived in Brandon, Florida, my neighbor Joy Maurer was a beautiful person who entertained often. She gave me this Army Navy cloth and influenced me so very much in my early years in Florida. Her southern home was decorated in Colonial Style. She exposed me to things I had never known existed. She's gone now, but I'll never forget her, her beautiful home, and her friendship. I had no car, (we were a one car family then and hubby took it to work each day) and three little ones...she would drag me out of bed (and my depression), and we would go hunting for things for a dinner party she was having. My youngest then was Kristin and the two boys, Ronnie and David, were in school. Joy had a little boy the same age as Kris named Michael. Michael had Cerebral Palsy and tiny Joy carried him everywhere. I never realized that she was teaching me things every day about decorating and entertaining, but about life's challenges too. She gave me a baby shower when I was pregnant with my youngest, Melissa. Missy was born in 1970, so that was so many years ago. How I missed Joy when we moved to the Orlando area.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
The gold rimmed stemware came from an estate sale. I don't know what the pattern is...if anyone knows, please tell me! The cake stand I've had so long, I don't remember where it came from.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm constantly looking for pretty napkins now. These were a mess when I found them at an estate sale on the south side of Orlando. The house was HOARDED big time...and the estate sale company owner told me that they filled 2 huge dumpsters before they could even get to the things to sell. I soaked these napkins in Oxiclean and then ironed them. They came out so nice!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I thought about some napkin rings that I have that would have looked great, and wish a little bit that I had used them...</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I'm new at this, but have noted that most tablescape posts have the obligatory "rim shot". So...not as good at picture taking as I would aspire to be, and my little Canon A620 Powershot camera is stretched to her limits...but here's my "rim shot", LOL</div>

I just didn't have the fortitude to try to learn all the ins and outs. This morning, even though I have so much to do to get ready for a visit from my daughter and her family, I decided to take a look at all the settings again. I wanted to show you my St. Patrick's Day tablescape, but I am not sure how to make it show under the tablescape tab. I did a little googling...but still not sure.<br />
<br />
Anyway....I'll post some pictures...see if I know how to create a label for this post...and keep my fingers crossed. I've been setting my round table in my kitchen eating area. The table doesn't leave much room for displaying, but it's still fun. So...here is my St. Patrick's Day tablescape for 2013. <br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--8QM2ake9VQ/UVLjoOm04PI/AAAAAAAAw_c/XV8OyQNwPw0/s1600/StPat10_2013_ShamrockPlates_HomeGoods_Placemats_MadeByMe.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/--8QM2ake9VQ/UVLjoOm04PI/AAAAAAAAw_c/XV8OyQNwPw0/s640/StPat10_2013_ShamrockPlates_HomeGoods_Placemats_MadeByMe.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
I made the place mats out of a runner that I found at Home Goods. I just cut it into 4 pieces and hemmed the edges. The tablecloth is a heavy brocade and I really was excited to get it at an estate sale for $3! It draped on my round table beautifully, with very little pressing needed.</div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OMTtxrYsZJk/UVLjomOBwEI/AAAAAAAAw_g/B0nFeWt99YE/s1600/StPat11_2013_RimShot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-OMTtxrYsZJk/UVLjomOBwEI/AAAAAAAAw_g/B0nFeWt99YE/s640/StPat11_2013_RimShot.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The gold flatware and gold chargers were estate sale finds. I especially love those chargers. $1 apiece, and although there were lots to choose from....most were rusted, so I picked out 6 of the best. They polished up beautifully with Barkeepers Friend.</div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-O7x3RsSz6WM/UVLjpIS4vZI/AAAAAAAAw_s/tzMROz9fuQs/s1600/StPat12_2013_cupcake.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-O7x3RsSz6WM/UVLjpIS4vZI/AAAAAAAAw_s/tzMROz9fuQs/s640/StPat12_2013_cupcake.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div style="text-align: justify;">
The green depression glass salad plates were an eBay find, and the shamrock plate was a purchase this year from Home Goods. The green napkins I've had for 40 years, and I layered the green with napkins I found at an estate sale.</div>
<br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-te9cMHdrcVg/UVLjt3pSF3I/AAAAAAAAw_0/GnQD4b4ecAQ/s1600/StPat13_2013_KissMeCupcake.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://3.bp.blogspot.com/-te9cMHdrcVg/UVLjt3pSF3I/AAAAAAAAw_0/GnQD4b4ecAQ/s640/StPat13_2013_KissMeCupcake.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Mr. Pig's contribution to everything was the decorated cupcakes he found at Publix. I wanted to save the cute little decorations, but our counter surfing Black Lab Suzy ate the cupcakes and chewed a couple of the little plastic decorations...</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Nb5-vSmd6YM/UVLjvZoXhRI/AAAAAAAAw_8/UGguFYUTvGo/s1600/StPat1_2013_ShamrockTeapot_HomeGoods.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-Nb5-vSmd6YM/UVLjvZoXhRI/AAAAAAAAw_8/UGguFYUTvGo/s640/StPat1_2013_ShamrockTeapot_HomeGoods.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
I just love this shamrock tea pot from Home Goods. It matches the little bread plates!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TDxzvqo4K3M/UVLjwir8reI/AAAAAAAAxAE/2PSFPpvO6PA/s1600/StPat2_2013.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" height="480" src="http://1.bp.blogspot.com/-TDxzvqo4K3M/UVLjwir8reI/AAAAAAAAxAE/2PSFPpvO6PA/s640/StPat2_2013.jpg" width="640" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Oh how I wanted a Shamrock plant for my center piece. All the bloggers I follow and love had Shamrock Plants for their tables. Alas, I hadn't a clue where to find one here, so I used a Hydrangea wreath found at Home Goods last year. It's flowers are so soft and pretty. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
My little "Irish Pig" butter dish...I tied a ribbon around him to decorate him for St. Patrick's Day. My daughter found him at an estate sale and gifted him to me. That makes him more precious in my eyes.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The cake stand is the same shamrock pattern as the bread plates and teapot...also found at Home Goods. How I love that store! The stemware is an estate sale find. They seemed to be the right choice with the gold of the chargers, flatware, and the gold rim of my Lenox Mansfield china.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
I decided to put the shamrock cake stand on one of the gold chargers. The hurricane globe is one of two found at an estate sale. I've never seen one like it with it's ribbed waves in the glass.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
This little tea cup was another estate sale find. On the bottom it says "Hand made in Galway" and "Tara", and underneath all of that it says "Ireland". So pretty. The little gold spoon is part of the flatware set.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
The napkin rings were found at an estate sale...they look like satin twisted rope. I'm sure I'll get lots of good use from them. They will also be perfect for Christmas, I think.</div>

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
My "candle light" view. Just one of the many challenges of blogging is picture taking. I learned from all the wonderful bloggers I follow that flash should not be used when tablescaping. A lesson I didn't learn 'til after I made my very first tablescape last year. I see now what a difference it makes to learn to use the manual settings on my little Canon A620 Powershot camera. It's an old camera now and I would love to have a Canon Rebel EOS. Not sure how I could ever manage that into my budget though. Nice to dream about one, but I'll try to get the best I can out of this little Canon digital Powershot. </div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Well, that's it. I still don't know very much yet about how to blog. Getting this post to show under the tab of Tablescapes, as well as on my home page is the challenge for today. I may have to contact one of my favorite bloggers for help! I added a "Tablescapes" label, so I'm hoping. I think there is something else I need to do too. Something about creating a "forward page"? LOL I also noticed lately that most of the blogger's pictures, when you click on them, don't go to that nice little slideshow (lightbox) any more...but now open up to a larger image. I really hate all those extra clicks to open each one to a larger view. I'm not sure how to make mine do what I want...(the slide show view). Gosh...there is SO much to learn!</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
<br /></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
So far, I only have one follower. Thank you "<a href="http://wsprsweetlyofcottages.blogspot.com/" target="_blank">Wsprsweetly of Cottages</a>". My heart is sad for Mona. I have followed her blog for over a year now, and find it so hard to express how I hurt for her loss of her daughter Sandy. I'm praying and thinking of her daily.</div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: justify;">
Love to all,</div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Not quite used to posting/blogging yet. Can't believe how many days it's been since my last post. I started a couple...but didn't get the pictures done to put in them. Then decided they weren't good enough to share with you.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I'm excited to share this post though. Friday, Mr. Piggy, (I should have been more selective with the name of my blog) and I, decided to go to a couple garage sales. The day before, I went on line and mapped out the locations. Friday morning, I wasn't sure I could manage the walking, but I spend so much time in the house, and there was extra incentive to go...we need to replace the dirty, chewed up, love seats in our family room...plus I've got it in my head that we need a king-sized bed in the master bedroom so that with Gypsy and Suzy in bed with us, we have more room. When they lay on the covers, you are literally pinned down!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So...off we go. The first two sales were such disappointments...and I almost said let's go home. Getting in and out of the van was painful...walking a few steps was painful...and then to see nothing but junk...ugh.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Well, the third time is a charm? I had no idea the third sale was an estate sale. Lots of cars and we arrived an hour after it opened. Ron (Mr. Piggy) dropped me off in front and went to find a place to park the van, and I trudged up the driveway and the long walk, following the arrow signs.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">As soon as I opened the door, I knew we had lucked up on the best sale I had ever been to. Soooo many things! It was conducted by an estate sale company. I got their card and met the owner the second day of the sale. (Yes we spent two days there-smile.) Super nice people...so helpful and they did a great job.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">The first day: Everything full price but marked reasonably, I thought. Too much to really go through and us so inexperienced. We should have brought a couple nice big baskets to put over our arms. When we found things...we had to carry them up to where you pay, and one person had to stay behind and tell everyone the rest of the things were sold! There were several sets of Fostoria glasses...hard to carry 14 glasses at once...and that was just one set. I bought a set of Amber goblets...water and juice. Wish I had bought the green set too, but it only had one water goblet...the rest were all small ones. Anyway, since I bought the amber ones the second day of the sale and it was after twelve noon...I got them half price, $10 for all!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So many things I wanted...that first day...but we had only brought a small amount of cash and they wouldn't accept checks or credit cards. That caused a lot of indecision on my part (I have a problem deciding on things anyway). In this sale...if you snooze you lose...that became obvious immediately. I can't tell you how many things we missed out on, while I was trying to decide if my limited funds should be spent on that item. That all changed the second day after twelve noon...if I had any inkling I wanted it...off it went to the pay table! The ladies that were conducting the sale soon became my fast friends.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">They were all helpful, but the most helpful was a lady named T.H. (yes...that was her real name on her birth certificate). Lovely lady who confided to me that she had nearly died last year with an anti-biotic resistant infection called C-dif...caused by Dr giving her high dosage of anti-biotics, of all things. She believes that the power of prayer is what pulled her through and I'm so glad she is still with us. She is invaluable to that estate sale company and what a delightful experience. She used to own a packaging company, and she packed all my purchased treasures and helped us take them out to the van! I was so glad to have met her and wish I could have her in my life as a friend...I gave her a big hug when we finally left the sale on Saturday.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Here are some of the things I found...most purchased at half price on the second day of the sale. I missed a lot on the first day to people with more money but I'm still very pleased with what I got!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://spyderladywebs.com/cute_teapot.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://spyderladywebs.com/cute_teapot.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This cute little teapot called to me the first day, but I kept passing it up, as did everyone else. The second day, I had to have it, and $6 was a bargain. I didn't get much sleep that first night...thinking of all the things I was going back for and hoped would still be there!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://spyderladywebs.com/daffodil_plate.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://spyderladywebs.com/daffodil_plate.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This Daffodil plate was brought out the second day. They said as things were sold, other things were found or placed in areas to make them more visible. If I had seen this the first day, I would have paid full price for it...but even happier to pay just $2.50 for it!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://spyderladywebs.com/pair_brass_sconces.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://spyderladywebs.com/pair_brass_sconces.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I did end up paying full price for two of these wonderful sconces. They are so gorgeous...solid brass and they even threw in the candles. I think people passed these up because they were BOLTED to the wall! I'm going to figure out a better way to hang them. I think they will go over my living room couch replacing the very french brass sconces that are there now. Full price was $25 for the pair, including the candles!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://spyderladywebs.com/young_girl_reading_Fragonard.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://spyderladywebs.com/young_girl_reading_Fragonard.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This was my biggest find of the day. It's a reproduction on canvas of "Young Girl Reading" by Jean Honore Fragonard. The frame is burled and it's matted beautifully. I found several of them on eBay, with frames not as pretty and the prices were obscene. I got this for $20.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://spyderladywebs.com/eagle_bookends.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://spyderladywebs.com/eagle_bookends.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Those who know me on line, know that I have watched Eagles in their nests since 2006. Seen the Eaglets hatch and made many new chat room on line friends. My Eagle buddies will be drooling over these. They are antiqued brass, very heavy and so pretty. I should have cleaned them before taking the picture...but just imagine how pretty they'll be without the dust!</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://spyderladywebs.com/sweet_crystal_lamp.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://spyderladywebs.com/sweet_crystal_lamp.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I think the only thing that saved this lamp for me to buy, was the fact it was plugged in and lit up on a table with other things for sale. People may have been afraid to unplug it and take it to the pay table...but not me. It was priced at $10 so half of that was a $5 bargain. I bought another lamp that I haven't taken a picture of yet to show you.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://spyderladywebs.com/rattan-wicker-credenza.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://spyderladywebs.com/rattan-wicker-credenza.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Years ago, my daughter Kristin gave me her old rattan and wicker tables for my back porch. Over the years, the one glass topped sofa table has warped and sagged from the Florida heat and humidity...so much so that I was afraid it would soon fall down or at least that the things on it would slip off, it was leaning so much. This table was marked $40 and was a half off bargain. It will need to be painted with some white exterior paint to help it last in the heat and humid conditions. It doesn't quite fit where I wanted it to go...but I can move it down to a longer wall.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://spyderladywebs.com/pretty_picture.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://spyderladywebs.com/pretty_picture.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">A bargain at $7.50, this picture is professionally framed and the matting is just so pretty. I'll find a place for it...not sure where yet.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<a href="http://spyderladywebs.com/antique_blanket_chest.jpg" imageanchor="1" style="margin-left: 1em; margin-right: 1em;"><img border="0" src="http://spyderladywebs.com/antique_blanket_chest.jpg" /></a></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I noticed this the first day...but I didn't go check it out by pulling out the drawers or anything. It was out of my price range at full price...I love the feet...and it's old...needs some freshening up of the finish. When it went to half price and was still there...a man was looking at it...and I decided I needed it! So...I bought it at half price. Sitting and resting...looked at it and knew I loved it. Well...imagine my surprise after I paid for it and the drawers wouldn't open! I told the people running the sale that the drawers were locked and was there a key? Imagine my mortification when they told me it was a cedar lined antique blanket chest! There IS a bottom drawer. Then I discovered the claw feet on the back legs are damaged...but the pieces to repair it are in that bottom drawer. It must have been fate, because we needed a place to put all the quilts we use on the bed. The dogs get things dirty quickly, so we have quite a few that we wash often. So...this lovely chest has gone in our bedroom. Even though, there is way too much furniture in there....might not be room for a king sized bed now.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I have many more things to show you...almost all bought for a mere pittance, compared to their true worth. I'll save those for another post.</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I hope you enjoyed seeing my found treasures. What a sale...we drove home marveling at our good fortune. Living on Social Security, these opportunities are few and far between...if at all anymore.</span></div>

Well, my Dad was born on the 13th...June 13th, 1905. Here's a baby picture of my father, Meyer Nicholas Noderer. I've always felt that the number 13 was my lucky number. Our first house number was 1313.</span><br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This is the original frame. Notice the pretty dress he's wearing?</span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I started this blog 2 weeks ago, but today is February 2nd, Ground Hog's Day. It also happens to be my Mom and Dad's Anniversary. </span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I haven't a clue what I'm doing...but it seems like something I am drawn to do. I would love for my blog to look as nice as many I've seen, but not sure how to accomplish that. My dream blogger/person is Susan, at </span><a href="http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Between Naps on the Porch</a><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">. What a neat name. Her home is lovely, and every post is well thought out and interesting. I love her decorating style, and love her table scapes. I could never dream of having so many different dishes and pretty crystal and flatware!</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">This blog is dedicated to my dear Mother, who passed away in 1977, at the age of 69. I've out-lived her by two and a half years so far. She always used to say to me, when I had some hare-brained idea..."When pigs fly you'll do that!" So...I have a small collection of flying pigs, and they make me think of Mom. I seem to collect many more things than just pigs with wings. Looking around my not so elaborate home, I see Roosters, blue and white china, lots of cobalt blue glass, Rabbits (mostly ceramic white ones), Crystal eggs, Glass bells, Ducks and Geese (I love white wooden hand-carved Swans), miscellaneous tea pots, and tea cups and saucers, and a few pieces of Pewter too. These things are all mixed in with Ron's (hubby) Civil War collection of things. </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Not sure you could say I collect them, but I like clocks. I have one Grandfather clock, and one Grandmother clock. Several wall clocks (I don't know how many). I also like wall candle sconces (Brass, Pewter or Wood), and I love candle holders of all kinds. I like the look of hurricane globes too.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Here's an old picture of my kitchen table Rooster. He often sits on my table on a lazy susan. Yes, you can see I love blue and white and yes my kitchen is wall papered, and yes it is full of roosters. I can't bring myself to remove that Waverly blue and white check. It says country kitchen to me...but to someone else it probably just says "outdated". I have a terrible time making decisions...but I guess no decision is a decision of sorts.</span><br />

<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">At some point, I want to paint my old 1970's brown cabinets...take out the fluorescent tube lighting in the sink area...would love to move the cabinets around and put in an island, but that might not be in the cards before I leave these earthly bounds. Maybe one day I'll be sharing some newly painted kitchen cabinets with you!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"> </span><span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I seem to have a schizophrenic decorating style...loving things primitive but also the beautiful, elaborate, colonial things you see in pictures of restored southern mansions... like swagged draperies, heavy damask upholstery, beautiful table linens and antique dishes, canopy beds, sterling silver flatware and serving pieces, gorgeous old tables and antiques. Things I certainly can't afford. I'm torn between beautiful brass things and pictures of rich looking, well-decorated colonial mansions, but then again, I love primitive, simple looking things as well. Handmade things, braided rugs, hand dipped candles, quilts, samplers, hutches and pie cupboards, stenciled wooden signs, and old painted furniture.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I mentioned I like samplers, but I only have 2 in the house...one I did myself back in the 60's. It needs a decent frame...maybe posting this picture will shame me into a new frame for it!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I found a wonderful primitive site, with lots of inspiration. It's called </span><a href="http://www.aprimitiveplace.org/" style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">"A Primitive Place" </a><br />
<br />
<div class="separator" style="clear: both; text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So much inspiration in their member gallery pictures. Each picture is a link to the member's own pages and pictures. I got lost in them for days!</span></div>

<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><b>Naming This Blog</b></span></div>
<div style="text-align: center;">
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span></div>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">...the very first step to having a blog...so hard, but each thing I accomplish is sometimes like a seeing a pig take wing, LOL. Of course, having children on their own now with their own wings...producing little piggies who are starting to fly too, makes me think of Pigs With Wings. Since "When Pigs Fly" was already taken, and since my little piggies all seem to come home again at some point in their lives (grandson piggy staying here a few nights a week while he works part time at Disney World), I decided to call it "When Pigs Fly Home Again". </span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">I think I should follow some more blogs to see how things are done, before I share that much. Now that I'm "elderly", I don't have as many projects or daily activities that anyone would find interesting.</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">So much to consider...dressing up my blog...what pictures to use...do I have a theme besides pigs with wings? How do I put a background in? Look at all those little icons above this compose area! I hovered over a few...I can change my font...so I highlighted everything typed so far and changed it to Trebuchet...oh...don't think I like that...a little clipped looking...okay...highlight again..and now it's Verdana! Gee, what else should I change...color maybe? No...not yet. Do I have a picture to use for a header? No...too soon, LOL. Do I know enough html code to pretty up my blog? Will my little Canon Powershot A620 camera take good enough pictures? Probably not...I want the camera Susan at <a href="http://betweennapsontheporch.blogspot.com/2012/02/dining-in-conservatory-welcome-to-179th.html#more">Between Naps on the Porch</a> uses...but my limited Social Security income might not agree. I have to think long and hard about expenditures now that I'm retired. Funny, all the years I worked, I longed to be able to shop on a week day...now that I can shop any day of the week, I'm afraid to spend the money. Another reason to follow blogs and get ideas for dressing things up, at almost no cost...right?</span><br />
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;"><br /></span>
<span style="font-family: Verdana, sans-serif;">Okay...enough for the first post...which I started 2 weeks ago. My, how time flies, but not my flying pig posts! LOL</span>Joyce@WhenPigsFlyhttp://www.blogger.com/profile/17569605649389906729noreply@blogger.com1
